Last Thursday’s snowstorm reminds us that Minnesota winter doesn’t take long in arriving! As we enter into the winter weather season, it’s good to recall PA’s approach to making determinations about school delays or closures.

In general, cold temperatures alone will not suffice for PA to close. In winter weather situations that do lead to a late start or school closure, the decision will generally be made and communicated by 6:30 a.m. We use a notification system to share information via each family’s phone numbers registered with the school. In addition, the information is posted on our website and broadcast on FOX 9, WCCO, and KARE 11 TV and posted on their websites.

During a winter weather day when school is in session, any early dismissal will also be shared by notification system, website, TV, and TV websites. Important information about after-school and evening activities will be shared as well.

We always urge our bus drivers to make safety a priority over arrival timeliness and we encourage your family to do the same. The school makes ample provision for late arrivals on bad weather days without issuing tardies.
In addition, we honor a family’s decision not to travel to school whenever you judge your own situation to be unsafe.
