Volunteer

Providence Academy is blessed by the generous and enthusiastic support of parent volunteers. Volunteering is the perfect way to connect with parents and share in the spirit of Providence Academy. It is also a wonderful opportunity to support your children, faculty and the community. There are opportunities to give your time during the school day, evening hours and weekends. Please take a moment to view the opportunities listed below and sign up for the event(s) that best fit your schedule. Descriptions and additional details may be found by clicking on the links. Thank you in advance for sharing your gifts of time and talent!

Volunteer Requirements

For NEW PA Volunteers

Did you know that Safe Environment Training is required in order to serve as a volunteer in a Catholic School?

Follow the steps below:

  1. If you have not yet already done so, you must attend a live VIRTUS training, plus complete the online training requirements.
  2. Create a profile and register for a live session at virtus.org. You will be able to access a list of sessions currently being offered within the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. You may attend any session that fits your schedule. For your convenience, a session will be held at Providence Academy on September 25, 2019. Regardless of location, pre-registration is required for all sessions.
  3. Begin the online training modules, including “Reporting Suspected Child Abuse.”
  4. Read and electronically sign a “Code of Conduct.”

To begin completing the steps above, you will need to create an account at virtus.org. Instructions for doing the above are contained in this document.

A background check is also required as you begin working with us, plus a re-check every three years thereafter. The first time you submit you information, please print and sign the 123b Informed Consent Form and return it to us at Providence Academy.

Thank you for working with us and for keeping our children safe! Please let us know when you’ve completed this training so we can update our records accordingly. If you have any questions, contact PA’s VIRTUS Coordinator Mrs. Ann Brown at ann.brown@providenceacademy.org, or licensed parent educator Mrs. Beth Trombley at beth.trombley@providenceacademy.org.

For CURRENT PA Volunteers

How to Renew Your VIRTUS Safe Environment Training

Additional Safe Environment Online Training is assigned every three years. When you’re due to renew your training, an automated message will be sent to you via email to prompt you to complete the renewal process at virtus.org. Log on to your account and click on “Toolbox” and then select “Update My Account.” After that, look again under the Toolbox. The assignments will be highlighted in yellow. You may have more than one to complete. The system will ask you to complete newly assigned modules, such as “How to Report Suspected Abuse” and/or “Working with Vulnerable Adults.” You may also be prompted to read, review and electronically sign a Code of Conduct. You will need to print a paper copy of the 123b Informed Consent Form and return it to the school office after signing. To access and complete these materials, you will need to log into your account at virtus.org.
