Choir at PA

Providence Academy boasts a large and active choral music program. Singing opportunities are available to students in Lower, Middle and Upper School at Providence Academy.

Cantate Choir

The Cantate Choir is the youngest Providence Academy choral group, the  includes 40 fourth and fifth grade students. This group has many opportunities to perform, including weekly school Masses and concerts, as well as larger community events at venues such as the Cathedral of St. Paul and at the Basilica of St. Mary.

Middle School Boys and Girls Choirs

More than 100 Middle School students sing in our Middle School Boys and Middle School Girls Choruses. Students in Middle School Chorus have opportunities throughout the year to perform alongside our Upper School Choirs, as well as our Middle School Band and Middle School Strings Harmonium Ensemble.

Academy Chorale

Academy Chorale is our large high school mixed choir which includes roughly one third of the entire Upper School. They work hard to put on four concerts a year (Sacred Concert, Christmas Concert, All Upper School Concert, and Pops Concert).  They regularly receive Superior Ratings at the highest level of difficulty at Minnesota State High School League Large Ensemble Competitions not only as a mixed ensemble, but also as men’s and women’s ensembles as the Academy Men’s and Academy Women’s Choruses.

Chamber Choir

Chamber Choir is the premier mixed ensemble at Providence Academy.  Selected by audition, these students choose to attend extra rehearsals before school in order to sing choral music at the highest level. This group not only regularly receives Superior Ratings at MSHSL Large Ensemble Competitions, but in 2016 they were selected as a State Performing Honor Choir for the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) Convention and in 2018 they were selected to perform at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Conference in Chicago.
