Giving by way of appreciated stock can be an excellent way to maximize tax advantages for you and support Providence Academy, now or through an estate gift. Should you wish to make a gift of stock, your broker may require the below account information:

UBS Financial
Providence Academy

We ask that you share this information so that we can properly thank you and provide formal acknowledgment for your tax purposes.

Cryptocurrency

Providence Academy accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many other forms of Cryptocurrency as charitable donations. Using crypto as a charitable gift may offer tax advantages, and provides a new way to support PA. Please contact Mr. Josh Anderson, Director of Advancement, with any questions and to receive the crypto address for the type of crypto you wish to donate.

Employer giving programs

Many companies encourage their employees to take part in corporate giving programs, making regular or one-time gifts through an employer’s gift processing partner (such as United Way, The Blackbaud Giving Fund, Benevity, and many others). This is an easy way to “set it and forget it” – arranging a regular gift to Providence Academy through payroll deduction. And, many employers offer matching grants, too (more on that below). Contact your human resources department to learn more, or reach out to our Development staff with any questions.

Matching gifts

Many companies offer a corporate match for gifts their employees make to a nonprofit organization such as Providence Academy. Companies may also offer this matching opportunity to retirees and/or spouses. In addition, some companies provide a more robust matching gift for employees who are company executives, have worked at the same company for an extended period of time, or who serve on the board of a charitable organization.

By completing some simple paperwork with your company’s employee benefits department, your Annual Fund gift to Providence Academy may be doubled – or even tripled – with no additional cost to you! Gifts that are matched by employers do not increase your charitable deduction for tax purposes, but they do count toward your total annual giving and will be recognized as such in the Academy’s Annual Report.

See if your employer will match your donation by using our matching gift search tool.

Contact Mr. Josh Anderson, Director of Advancement, or Mrs. Jennifer Newman, Assistant Director of Development, with any questions.

Endowment gifts

What is an endowment gift?

An endowment gift is a perpetual fund that will permanently generate income for Providence Academy. When you give an endowment gift, the principal (original) amount is never spent, thereby generating 4-5% on average in annual earnings to benefit PA.

When you make an endowed gift – whether supporting a current fund or creating your own, new fund at PA – you support the mission of Providence Academy for generations to come.

Endowed funds can be created in honor or memory of someone important to you, and can also be established to support a specific cause near and dear to your heart. Some examples would be endowed scholarship funds, endowed faculty chair positions, or endowed funds meant to support unique operational needs for PA forevermore. Endowed funds can be some of the most personal – and most creative – ways to make a lasting gift from your family to Providence Academy.

To learn more about making an endowment gift, contact Mr. Josh Anderson, Director of Advancement, at (763) 258-2531 or .

Planned giving

Planned gifts, also called “estate gifts”, are often the most substantial gifts an individual or family ever shares with a charitable organization. At Providence Academy, there is no greater honor than learning you’ve including our school in your estate plans.

There are many ways to remember Providence Academy in your estate plans:

Leave a simple bequest in your will:
A bequest intention is an easy way to include Providence Academy in your estate plans, and also can help achieve your own philanthropic goals. Simply including language in your will such as “I give and bequeath the sum of $______ or ____% of the residue of my estate to Providence Academy, Plymouth MN” is all it takes to remember PA in your estate plans. Don’t have a will? Providence Academy has partnered with FreeWill: a free online resource that guides you through the process of creating a legally valid will and including a gift to Providence Academy in just 20 minutes.

Name Providence Academy a beneficiary of your insurance policy, revocable trust, or retirement plan – costing you nothing in your lifetime, but giving you the satisfaction of knowing your assets will continue to benefit Providence Academy students for generations to come.  Even including Providence Academy as a contingent beneficiary of one of the above kinds of accounts can have a tremendous impact on PA! You can use this secure online tool to make your plans and designate Providence Academy as a beneficiary of these assets to support and educate our PA students for generations to come.

Make a gift from your IRA:
Individuals 70 ½ years or older can give up to $100,000 to charities from their IRA tax-free, while reducing taxable required minimum distributions (RMDs).

Donate appreciated stock in lieu of cash gifts:
These gifts are not only tax-deductible at the stock’s current valuation, but can also enable you to lower your capital gains liability.

Gifts are recognized in perpetuity, and your pledge ensures your family membership in our Providence Legacy Society.

For questions, or to let us know you’ve remembered Providence Academy in your will or estate plans, please contact Mr. Josh Anderson, Director of Advancement, at (763) 258-2531 or josh.anderson@providenceacademy.org.

Gifting minimum IRA distributions

Individuals 70 ½ years or older can give up to $100,000 to charities from their IRA tax-free, while reducing taxable required minimum distributions (RMDs).

Gifts from your IRA can be an excellent way to support Providence Academy’s annual operations.

Donate district transportation reimbursements

Did you know you can donate your transportation reimbursements from your local public school district? Each fall, Providence Academy families who live in public school districts outside of the Wayzata School District have the option to donate their taxpayer funded reimbursement back to PA.

Students who either take alternate transportation (such as PA operated busses) or have their parents drive them to and from school, are eligible to receive a reimbursement of their tax dollars that otherwise would fund public school bussing if their child(ren) were to have attended their locally assigned public school. You can opt to have your family’s transportation reimbursement considered a charitable donation to Providence Academy instead of receiving that reimbursement yourself.

Each year, Providence Academy benefits from thousands of dollars in transportation reimbursements from families who opt to donate this refund back to PA!

To choose this option, simply mark the “donate my reimbursement to Providence Academy” when you receive this form from our business office at the beginning of each new school year.

To learn more, contact Mr. Josh Anderson, Director of Advancement, or Mrs. Amanda Gregory, Business Office Assistant.

Year-end giving

Are you looking for a way to reduce your taxable income for the current calendar year? Consider a year-end gift to Providence Academy! Consult your tax professional, financial advisor, or accountant with any questions, and contact our Development Office to learn about ways to share your gift with PA before December 31.
