The Lions Cross Country team competed at the State Championship meet this past Saturday at the historic Les Bolstad golf course. At the gun, athletes were met by chilly temps around 40 degrees, a damp but firm carpet of green grass, a light breeze, and bashful sun. Junior Jack Sams represented Providence Academy in the first race of the day, running a respectable race with a finishing time of 17:48 in 110th place overall. In the next race of the day, our Lady Lions competed in a very exciting race for the Class A title. Freshman Ella Towne went out quickly but settled into a patient pace. Junior Anna Cash followed closely behind. Together, Ella and Anna picked off runner after runner, storming the finish line in 20th (19:30) and 24th (19:33) place, respectively. Both Ella Towne and Anna Cash earned All-State titles. Senior Captains Leni Kuhn (20:31) and Elizabeth Maiser (23:11) also put an exclamation point on a remarkable season with gutsy, intelligent races. Junior Lily Carlson (22:03), and sophomores Ariadna Campbell (22:34) and Sylvia Huebschen rounded out the Varsity team with hard-fought races. The girls varsity team placed 9th in a very competitive field. Congratulations to the entire PA CC team on an incredible meet to wrap up an incredible season!
