The Middle School Science Olympiad Team did extremely well at last week’s invitational tournament in Boyceville, WI. Team members participated in 20 different competitive science events and earned a total of 16 medals. Gold medals were won in Anatomy/Physiology, Heredity, Code Craze, Disease Detectives and Potions-Poisons. Silver Medals were won in Circuit Lab, Hovercraft, Meteorology and Water Quality. Bronze Medals were won in Crime Busters, Helicopter, Machines, Rocks-Minerals and Fourth Places were awarded in Code Busters and Remote Sensing. The PA team did so well that they came home with the 4th Place trophy overall out of 32 teams. There’s still time to join the team if you like learning about and DOING science or engineering. You can meet with one of the coaches either before or after school. The next tournament will be the Minnesota Regional tournament on February 7 followed by the MN State Tournament on February 28 so the team will be refining their events and practicing for new events with their coaches Mrs. Stagg, Mrs. Pfiffner and Mrs. Sheehan.
