In recent years, Providence Academy has offered the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) to juniors and sophomores on a Saturday in October at PA. For juniors only, the PSAT doubles as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (“PSAT-NMSQT”). For sophomores, the PSAT is purely a practice exam. Effective for the 2026-2067 school year, the following will be our approach to offering a single in-person administration of the PSAT:

  • Rising Juniors (Class of 2028) will continue to have the opportunity to take the PSAT-NMSQT in-person at Providence Academy. However, please note that in Fall 2026, we will administer the PSAT-NMSQT during MEA Break on Thursday, October 15th. It will continue to be an opt-in exam, and interested juniors should mark their calendars accordingly.
  • Rising Sophomores (Class of 2029) will still have the opportunity to take a practice PSAT, though they will now do so in the springtime. Through a partnership with Compass Education Group, sophomores may opt in to take a free, at-home, remotely proctored Digital PSAT during April of their 10th grade year. Those who do will receive a robust score report from Compass that will be instructive as they decide between taking the SAT or ACT as juniors.
    • As a reminder, sophomores are also invited to take a free, at-home, remotely proctored practice ACT through Flying Colors during the month of April.
    • Each of the practice ACT and practice PSAT opportunities linked above are available to current sophomores (Class of 2028) as we transition our approach.

Please reach out to Mr. Andrew Wolf, PA’s ACT and PSAT Coordinator, with any questions.
