Congratulations to the Providence Academy Track & Field team on a job well done at the IMAC Conference Championships that were hosted at Providence on May 18.  The girls’ team placed second and the boys’ team placed third in the meet.

In total, the team had 36 PR’s and 9 season best performances throughout both varsity and junior varsity meets.  The boys 4x800m Relay team of Lev Dougherty, Gavin Hansen, Thomas Avra & Braden Crutchmer ran a blazing time of 8:28.89 setting a new conference meet record as well as the school record.  The girls 4x800m Relay team of Abby Daugherty, Aly Marshall, Anne Peterson & Kylie Hartel also set a new conference meet record. The girls’ time was 9:45.52.  Congratulations!

Some highlight performances were senior Aly Marshall who was a part of the winning girls 4x800m Relay team.  Aly placed eighth in the 1600m run and PR’d with a time of 5:42.12 and she also anchored the 4x400m Relay team and helped her team take a fourth place finish.  Juniors Brooke Hohenecker and Grant Heim both took home three first place titles.  Hohenecker won the 100m Dash (12.39), 200m Dash (25.55) and 400m Dash (58.78).  Heim won the 400m Dash (52.47), and was a winning relay team member on both the 4x100m relay and the 4x200m relay.  Freshman Leni Kuhn ran a lifetime PR in the girls 3200m run with a time of 11:58.46 taking second place for the Lions.  

Congratulations to the Track & Field team!  Our next competition is the Conference Relay meet to be held at the Blake School in Hopkins on Wednesday, May 24 starting at 3:00 PM.  The team will then compete in the Section 6AA Track & Field meet at Orono High School on Tuesday, May 30 (Day 1) and Thursday, June 1 (Day 2).
