For those Upper School parents unable to join our College Conversation on College Visits and Summer Collegiate Enrichment Programs, note that the months immediately ahead are often ‘college visit season,’ with the academic calendar presenting opportunities such as President’s Day weekend, P/T Conferences, Spring Break, and Easter Monday to more easily devote some time to college exploration. We are happy to share our Campus Visit Tips resource. Know that we are always happy to offer guidance about choosing campus visits no matter the stage of your student’s college search.
We also encourage students to consider summer plans, and particularly summer enrichment program opportunities, in the coming days and weeks as there can be early deadlines or space constraints for particular programs that may be of interest. The Selected Summer Enrichment Programs document is a curated resource listing programs that could be a good match for students with a range of academic or personal interests and that are offered at a reasonable cost.
These programs present meaningful opportunities to work with college faculty, to “try on” college life for a week (or more), to gain deeper exposure to an academic or career interest area that it may not be possible to study during the school year, to meet other driven students with similar interests, and establish the confidence to engage in the college process energetically. We are always happy to offer guidance on identifying high quality and right fit summer opportunities to consider.
We request parent attendance at our upcoming virtual College Conversation for 9th/10th grade parents on February 13 at 8:45 a.m. via Google Meet. We would also like to remind freshmen and sophomore families to continue to follow announcements in the College Counseling section of the weekly PA E-Bulletin so as not to miss important information.
