This year’s 9/11 Remembrance at Providence Academy will be unlike any we’ve held before. On Friday, September 11, we will mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, with a special tribute honoring those who lost their lives and saluting the first responders who served that day and continue to serve our communities.
First responders from departments across Hennepin County will make a silent procession through campus, passing 2,977 flags planted by Providence students in remembrance. The procession will be followed by a special ceremony on the front steps featuring T. John Cunningham, Assistant Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and a former firefighter who responded to Ground Zero on 9/11. The tribute will also feature bagpipes, a first responder band, and our Providence Academy student band.
Parents are warmly invited to join us for this special tribute. If attending in person, please arrive and park before 9:00 a.m., when the front entrance drive and Front West and East lots will close.
