Brooke Hohenecker Named 2024 Athena Award Winner

Congratulations to senior Brooke Hohenecker who has been named the 2024 Athena Award Winner from Providence Academy.  The Athena Award is awarded to one senior female athlete from each participating school who has distinguished herself in special individual athletic achievement or superior achievements in one or more sports.  

Throughout her high school athletic career, Brooke has made outstanding achievements in both Basketball and Track and Field.  Brooke is a 5xAll Conference athlete in Basketball and 5xAll Conference athlete in Track & Field.  She is a 3xState Champion in Basketball and a State Champion in the 200m Dash in 2022.  She has earned All State honors in both Basketball and Track & Field.  She was named to the MSHSL Girls’ Basketball Class AA All Tournament Team in 2024.  Brooke holds three school records (Most 3-pointers in a Single Season, 100m Dash and 200m Dash).  She was voted on as Most Outstanding Sprinter Award at Providence Academy for the past three years and was awarded the Defensive Player Award for two years in Basketball.  Brooke is not only an amazing athlete, but she is also an outstanding leader in and out of sports.  She has led both the Basketball and Track & Field teams as team captain for the past two years as well.  

Outside of her busy athletic schedule, Brooke is a camp counselor for the younger athletes in Basketball and Track & Field camps.  She serves others through school clubs Letters of Love and Lions for Life.  Brooke is the co-founder of an international pen pal program through a school in Uganda called Letters to Lions.  Brooke truly embodies what a student athlete is as she is determined, hardworking and successful in both her academics and athletics.  

After graduating from Providence Academy this spring, Brooke will attend the University of St. Thomas in the fall where she has earned a Track & Field scholarship and will compete on the UST Track & Field team and plans to study Business Management and minor in Analytics.  Congratulations Brooke!
