This past week, PA welcomed Monsignor Matthew Odong and Fr. Rom Paul from the archdiocese of Gulu, Uganda. The late Archbishop Harry Flynn provided lots of support for Monsignor’s ministries in Gulu and hosted many of his seminarians here. Their ministry has grown to include a Sacred Heart Seminary and Archbishop Flynn Secondary School, AFSS, ( a 7-12 coed boarding school) and beginning a school farm to help feed the students and local villagers. It’s a very poor and rural part of Uganda. More details can be found on their website: Hope for Uganda.
The priests visited PA and talked to Lower School students, said mass for the juniors and seniors, and visited the community. Middle School students sold ice cream sandwiches to help raise funds for their mission. PA Upper School students Leightyn Ferrell and Brooke Hoehnecker are starting a pen pal club that already has 70 members to start interacting with students from AFSS.
