Middle School Students formed the first official Ultimate Frisbee team this year to compete in Minnesota Ultimate’s spring MS league. Ultimate frisbee is a field sport played with endzones where team members throw and catch a disc and score when they catch it in the endzone. Players cannot run with the disc and instead establish a pivot foot similar to basketball. 16 players joined the team from PA, both boys and girls, in grades 5-8. Practices were held through late March and April and games occurred in doubleheader format (2 games per day) on Sundays in April-May, playing against schools like Maple Grove, Rosemount, and Minnetonka. Over May 18-19 PA competed in the Middle School State Tournament at the National Sports Center in Blaine. We fell to Minnetonka and Hopkins but beat the Friends School of Minneapolis on Saturday. This dropped us out of the running for the championship, but we won 3 of 3 games on Sunday in consolation play against Open World Learning, Maple Grove, Eagan. The season totals for the inaugural season were 9 wins and 4 losses.
