The Providence Academy Athletics Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Brad Giesbrecht to the position of Assistant Athletic Director.
Giesbrecht attended St. John’s High School (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada), after which he matriculated to the University of North Dakota (Grand Forks, ND) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching. He most recently earned a Masters in Education at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in Sport and Recreation Management.
Giesbrecht has a deep background as both an athlete and a coach. As an athlete, he started playing hockey at five and continued into his college years, baseball starting at 11, and golf at 15. In his collegiate years, he coached at East Grand Forks High School and he also coached for one year for the Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association.
Prior to Providence Academy, Giesbrecht worked at Anoka Middle School for the Arts in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. Additionally, he served as a Middle School Athletic Administrator in the Anoka-Hennepin School District for 11 years.
He shared, “A high work ethic has bled into everything I do, whether it is sports, academics, or just life in general. The motto of ‘Effort=Results’ is what has best prepared me for this new role. I look forward to working with students and staff in the pursuit of excellence in the classroom and athletic arena, and to using my skills and talents to provide the necessary tools and resources so that students at Providence Academy can accomplish their dreams.”
Giesbrecht is married to his wife, Nancy, and has two adult step-children, Eric and Laura, as well as two dogs, Fred and Nugget. In his downtime, he loves to read autobiographies, travel, and take photos.
