May is traditionally observed by Catholics as the month devoted to honoring Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Providence Academy Lower School students will celebrate by praying the Rosary and crowning Mary’s statue with flowers on Friday, May 7th. Since the teachers and students of Providence Academy cannot physically stand at the feet of Jesus’ mother, we place lovely flowers in front of the image that keeps her in our minds. To participate in the celebration, the children are encouraged to bring a flower to school for Our Lady on Friday morning. Teachers will allow students time to place their flowers in front of the statue of Mary inside the main doors. Vases will be provided.
