We are pleased to celebrate the launch of a first-ever series of virtual alumni career forums where alumni from a variety of fields speak to current students via PA Student Club meetings. While attendance at Providence Academy presents students with previews to college and career pathways through interaction with college counseling programming and advising, our very own alumni have much experience and wisdom to share. With more PA graduates entering professions and with the unique opportunity to bring them to campus, this new initiative is helping students become aware of the broad spectrum of opportunities ahead of them.
Another goal of these forums is to assist students in better calibrating their life’s compass and thus help them think more deeply about utilizing their gifts, talents, and aspirations to help prepare them in discernment of their own vocations. These events are also a step towards building a more cohesive alumni mentoring/networking program in a manner that models community building and collaboration.
Beginning in January, we have hosted Alumni-in-STEM, Healthcare, Law, with future forums being planned with Alumni-in-Finance, Social Services, and more. These sessions explore and affirm the excitement, societal relevance, and employment prospects in various professional sectors and allow students to hear panelists explain their current jobs, while highlighting their individual journeys from Providence Academy graduation to their current profession. We are grateful to all of our alumni participants, ranging from software engineers at Google and Microsoft to family practice attorneys to oncology pharmacists, and we look forward to future alumni career forums!
