Qualified volunteers are needed to help at special events and field trips.
All volunteers and employees in a Catholic school or church program are required to complete the “Essential 3” items listed below. This includes volunteering for games or concessions at the Fun Fair, chaperoning a field trip, and other events in which you would be in direct contact with students. Those who have not completed the three mandated elements will not be able to volunteer.
For first time volunteers, all items can be completed online in about 95 minutes by creating an online account at www.virtusonline.org
1. First, View the “Virtus” training video and complete responses to questions about protecting young children. Note: Fast Forwarding will cause the module to lock up and you will be required to start the video over.
2. Complete a criminal background check.
3. Sign the Volunteer Code of Conduct (electronic signature)
For those who have already completed the three steps, updates are required after three years. If you are contacted to update an element, please do so as quickly as possible. Also, if you have recently updated one element, you may be contacted separately to update another element. Reminders are emailed to you automatically through the virtus system and Providence Academy is notified.
Tips: Plan to complete all three elements at one time. It is best to complete the training on a computer in a Chrome browser (works best.) Do not use a phone or tablet.
