Boys Lacrosse
This week, the Boys Lacrosse team traveled to Brainerd for our first action of the season versus the senior-dominated lineup of Brainerd. The Lions JV fought a close match to a 3-2 loss. The boys came together and learned a lot and are having a very fun season. The team was led by Gus Foster with the heavyweight of the game belt and Nick Sargent with the defensive burrito of the game award.
Varsity cruised to a 13-1 win over the home warriors. The team was led on offense by hat tricks from Evan Janevich, Sammy Lewis and Max Klassen, followed by Christian Mitchell and Rudy Kalan with two goals each. The offense moved the ball with precision and kept the Warriors D off balance all game. The defense was led by Joe Ims with eleven ground balls and Riley Klatt with six. The team defense was stellar, and Joe Ims, Sam Ims and Maximilian Heitzman led the charge along with Nate Gomke, Jon Goodrich and Tony Miller at LSM and Kaden LaCombe and Brandon Sattler at D-Mid. Senior Captain goalie Braxton Akkerman had his best game yet as a Lion with many great saves and only allowing one goal on nineteen shots.
The Lions’ next action is Thursday with both JV and Varsity away at Breck, followed by JV and Varsity vs. Blake on Saturday.
