The PAPA Executive Committee would like to thank the entirety of PAPA – that’s you, the Parents of Providence Academy, for stepping up during this crisis and digging in with our phenomenal faculty and staff to ensure our children have the best possible experience.  I am so proud of our school – the students, parents, faculty and staff – who have gone above and beyond to bring PA into our homes.  I am inspired by the creativity of our school – from Mr. Santer’s recorded Art Lessons to 4th grade science experiments from Mrs. Hohenecker’s kitchen; daily virtual Mass from our chapel with Fr. McClellan, announcements from Dr. Flanders and lunches from Chef Morris.  All my children have especially appreciated the ability to go at their own pace and the flexibility the schedule allows them.  While none of us would have chosen this experience and many of us might not completely understand how we will cope for the remainder of the school year, I do enjoy the front row seat this situation has given me, as a parent, into the learning and community my children experience daily.

Secondly, as we virtually close out this school year the last order of business for the PAPA Exec Committee is to solicit new members to replace the positions whose terms are coming to an end.  PAPA Exec Committee members serve for two-year terms and our primary purpose is as a service organization to support the PA community.  We will have four positions open and encourage anyone interested in serving on PAPA to nominate themselves.  The Executive Committee meets monthly for 1 – 2 hours and each position has an area of focus as described below:

  • Secretary – Records minutes during our monthly meeting and assists with other correspondence as needed.
  • Treasurer – Prepares yearly budget, receives and disperses funds.  No need to be an accountant – anyone who knows how to balance their checkbook and write a check is qualified!
  • Middle School, Vice President – Represents Grades 6-8 at Executive Committee meetings, meet periodically with Mr. Rickbeil, Director of Middle School.
  • Lower School Pre-K-2, Vice President – Represents Grades Pre-K – 2nd grade at Executive Committee meetings, meet periodically with Mrs. Galgano, Director of Lower School.  Team with Dani Johansen, Grade 3-5 Vice President, to coordinate lower school room parents and other volunteers throughout the year.

Nominating yourself is simple – please complete the Google Form found at this link.  Please submit your nomination by May 15.  While self-nomination is preferred, nominations of others are accepted.

I would like to thank Donna Azarian, Paul Happe, Heather Somers, and Lauren Olson who served in these roles the last 2 years.  If you have questions about a particular role or PAPA in general, please feel free to reach out to me or any other exec committee members.
