Boys Hockey

The Lions travelled to Minnehaha Academy to take on the RedHawks. The Lions were down early, but 2 quick goals by Captain Thomas Vos, lifted the Lions spirit and the team started rolling.  Senior Forward Alex Doucette kept it going with a short handed goal, followed by Junior Defenseman Jack Reller with a Power Play goal putting the Lions up 4-1 after the First period.

The Lions came out firing again in the second, with Sophomore forward Johnny Hendrickson capitalizing for his first high school tally.  The Lions rolled to a 8-2 victory and received contributions from James Smith (HCA), Johnny Hendrickson and Jack Reller. Senior goalie Joshua Koskie stopped 18 of 20 shots for a 90% save percentage.

Congratulations to the Lions for a great win and to Coach Lewis for his first High School Varsity victory as the Head Coach of the Lions.

Girls Basketball

On Thursday evening, the Lions hosted their first game of the season against Trinity School. There were a lot of nerves for the first game of the season as the Lions started a very young group of players. However, with the leadership and experience from their Captains Olivia Klammer and Maria Counts, the Lions were able to steer the ship in the right direction. The Lions got off to an early lead busting out to a 27 point advantage to start the game. Their aggressive defense and ability to get into the lane early helped calm some early nerves. By halftime, the Lions were comfortably ahead by 42 points. The second half was much of the same story as the Lions were able to cruise to victory by a score of 66 – 9. The Lions were led in scoring by 7th Grader Maddyn Greenway scoring 20 points and Senior Captain Maria Counts scoring 17.
