Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Helen Healy and I am the current president of PAPA, the Providence Academy Parents Association. This is our family’s 11th year at Providence. We have seven children that have all attended the school. One of the greatest aspects of Providence Academy is being immersed in such a strong community, whether it’s the school community at large, or if it’s found in different places like the Parent’s Bible Study, Cana Family Mom’s Groups, various sports teams or fine arts groups, volunteer opportunities, or more. Providence is blessed to have so many avenues where we can find community! I specifically remember being supported by the community when our son went through a difficult heart surgery.
I know each member of the PAPA Board has their own reason for stepping up to serve our community. I’d like to introduce you to the following individuals who will be serving as your PAPA Board Members for the 2018-2019 year:
- Vice President – Diane Beauchamp
- Secretary – Donna Azarian
- Treasurer – Paul Happe
- Upper School Vice President – Lisa Prom
- Middle School Vice President – Heather Somers
- Lower School Vice Presidents – Lauren Olson (Pre-K – 2) and Anne Ryan (3-5)
PAPA is a service organization. Our chief purpose is to support Providence Academy’s philosophy, mission and curriculum. Many of you will be familiar with the great events we organize, which include the Lower School Fall Fun Fair, grade-level parent parties, class parties, used uniform sale, father-daughter dance, mother-son game night, Lower School Sock Hop, Middle School service projects, faculty gift giving, the Advent Holiday Boutique, and many more. We are also committed to supporting the parents of the school. Many of you attended our Parent-to-Parent Presentations for both the Lower and Middle Schools.
To make any of these efforts and service projects possible, though, we need your help. We invite you to get involved and volunteer with PAPA. It’s a great way to get to know others in our community and show your children that you support the school they attend. For a list of volunteer opportunities, visit the Volunteer section of the Providence website. The list is updated often and we are always looking for people to volunteer.
On behalf of the rest of the PAPA board, we hope you and your families enjoy this final stretch of summer together and we pray that your children return to school rested and ready to embrace the new year.
All the best,
