At Providence Academy, students spend a quarter of their 7th
grade year learning about woodworking. They practice using all the tools
available, work on safety rules, and build exciting individual projects.
Maddie Offerman's rocking horse project is an example of the many

Providence Academy Students Named AP Scholars
Anne Gottwalt, Scott Walls,
and Mary Cummins, all members of the Class of 2008, were named the Academy’s
first ever AP Scholars with Distinction. AP Scholars with Honors were
Katie Finley, Michael George, Michael Offerman, and Jimmy Simonse. Lars Gilyard,
Matt Villaume, Natasha Topoluk, Jaclyn Walker and Kristen Seligman received the
distinction of AP Scholar.

Dr.
Flanders Meets Radio Personality, Dr. William Bennett
Dr. William J. Bennett was recently in the Twin Cities to
meet with area educators to discuss his books including a textbook on American
history. The text, entitled America: The Last Best Hope, is used in the
American History classrooms at Providence Academy.

Fame Football Coach Roger Lipelt Brings a Winning Season to Providence Academy
Under the leadership of Hall of Fame Coach Roger Lipelt,
the young Providence Academy football program is achieving early success with a
4-1 record.

Endurance, both in running and in fund raising, was the
main goal of the Providence Academy Lower School Running Club. Inspired by
extra-curricular involvement, health, wellness and service to others,
enthusiastic runners from the third, fourth, and fifth grades joined in
bi-weekly distance and fun runs.

Providence Academy sophomore student, Joseph O’Sullivan, is
deeply involved in an extra-curricular activity unique amongst his peers on the
suburban Plymouth campus. For the past five years O’Sullivan has been mastering
the art of showing Shorthorn cattle.

students, parents, and members of the Academy’s faculty and staff.

placed seventh overall in individual competition at the City of the Lakes
Chapter Math Counts Tournament.

The Memorial Blood Center recently hosted their spring
blood drive at Providence Academy. Fifteen new donors joined many regulars
in giving blood. The next drive is scheduled for Monday, November 3rd from
12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Providence Academy Senior basketball player Katie Finley
was recently chosen from a pool of finalists representing 56 schools in the
region as the female Region 4A Triple “A” Award winner for the 2007-08 school
year. A total of eight female and eight male athletes in Class A are honored as
Regional winners. This is the highest award granted by the Minnesota State High
School League.

Tony Pistilli recently performed on
tenor saxophone at Orchestra Hall as a member of the MMEA All-State Symphonic
Band. His award is the first of its kind for a music student from Providence
Academy.
