Providence Academy Follows Georgian Colonial Architecture, Both Inside and
Outside
The building itself is modeled on the Georgian colonial style of the Christopher Wren Building at the college of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Stately white columns line the dining room and auditorium area. The building's interior remains true to the colonial period style. In addition to spacious, comfortably designed classrooms, amenities include state-of-the-art science, technology and computer laboratories, gymnasiums, soccer, football, and softball fields, tennis courts, a track, performance stage and a chapel. Providence Academy gives students the finest facilities in which to hone their academic and life skills. Ground was broken for Providence Academy on March 25, 2000. The initial building phase included one of the two full-size gymnasiums, a multipurpose room, a stage/music area, as well as outdoor play and athletic facilities. The commons and cafeteria has been designed for about 1,000 students. A 94,000 square foot high school addition on the northwest side of the building was completed in August 2006. As the web tour from the home page shows, this wing has a large seminar room with graduated seating, metal shop, wood shop, "artist loft" art studio, physics lab, biology lab, media center, two additional gymnasiums, band room, choir room and sixteen additional classrooms.
