with grandparents and other special persons. We welcome
guests of Middle and Upper School students on Thursday and
guests of Lower School students on Friday. Special
classroom events, Mass, school lunch, and more will be
enjoyed during these annual celebrations.

Let's get ready to celebrate the Providence Academy
community at the annual Parent Association Gala, “An Evening
Under the Stars,” on April 26th! Please remember to RSVP by
this Friday, April 11th.
Also, volunteers are needed,
this year as always, to help with preparations for our
annual Spring Gala. If you are available to help set up for
the event, on Friday, April 25th (afternoon and evening) or

All
Strings Concert
Save the date of Monday, May 19th, for the All Strings Concert. The
program will be held in the Gallery, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Lost and Found Items
Our lost and found is
overflowing! If you are missing any items, especially shoes, please come and
take a look. Lost and Found is located in the northeast corner on the lower
level, near Mrs. Heck’s FACS room.
Love & Logic News for 2008-09
The upcoming school
year will provide parents with a number of opportunities to join parenting
discussion groups, based on the Love & Logic
series by Foster and
Cline. These books have been applauded for providing “important concepts and
practical solutions to help children become emotionally, socially and morally
healthy.”
Sessions geared toward
parents of adolescents and teens will be again be offered. Also, in response to
several requests, two new groups will be added in 2008-09: evening discussions
and a discussion group for parents of college students.
Registration will take
place in the fall. Questions about Love & Logic may be directed to Mrs.

PA Summer Camps Reminder
Providence offers a great
variety of summer academic, athletic and fine arts camps. This is a reminder to
check out the offerings on Mrs. Spears’
website and sign up as soon as possible. In many cases, space is limited
and is filling up quickly.
Parenting Education
Opportunity
Save the date of Friday, April 18th, for “Reflections on Contemporary
Brain Research and Raising Children,” presented by Mr. Ferdinandt. Please plan
to join us from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall for this highly
informative talk.
Middle/Upper School News
Coffee House Concert
On Friday, April 25th,
Upper School students will showcase their spectacular talent at the Coffee House
Concert. All are welcome to attend this wonderful evening performance,
beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Art Studio.
Football Coaches Needed
Coach Lipelt is looking for dads who would like to help coach the 7th
and 8th grade football teams. If you are interested, please contact

France Trip, 2009
Madame Stachour and Madame Woodbury have planned a trip to France for June
of 2009. An informational meeting was held on March 25th for those
interested in participating. Be sure to get an application and all materials
soon. The deadline for signing up for the trip is Friday, April 18th.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences for Middle and
Upper School are scheduled for Thursday, April 17th, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and
from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. in Gym A. Completed sign-up forms can be returned to
Mrs. Kelly Wilder through any of the administrative offices. Registration can
also be completed by contacting Mrs. Kelly Wilder directly at (763) 258-2587 or
kelly.wilder@providenceacademy.org.
Spain Trip Meetings
Students and parents are requested to attend the
upcoming Spain trip meetings on Mondays, April 28th and June 2nd.
Both meetings will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall. Please

Upper School Fine Arts Banquet
The Fine Arts Banquet will be held on Tuesday,
April 29th, at 6:00 p.m. All Upper School Fine Arts students are
invited to attend the potluck dinner where letters and other achievement awards
will be presented. We would love to see you all there! If you are in need of a

Lower School News
1st and 2nd Grade Spring
Show
Mark
your calendar for the 1st and 2nd grade Spring Show on
Tuesday, May 20th, at 7:00 p.m. Performers will be requested to wear
dark bottoms and a white or pastel top, following PA’s dress guidelines.
3-4-5
Book Club
The
final book club session of the school year will begin on April 21st
from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Subsequent meetings will be held on April 28th,
May 5th and 12th. Book Club is open to
3rd, 4th and 5th
Grade students. This club is a fun way to help develop your child’s love
of reading and enhance comprehension skills—thinking critically, listening
intently and speaking with confidence. What a great way to read and have it
count toward your class homework reading goal! For more information, contact

3rd – 5th Grade Spring Music
Concert
This Wednesday, April 9th, 3rd through 5th
graders will present, Behold the Lamb, a production depicting Jesus’ last
week on earth, his resurrection and sighting on the Road to Emmaus. The program
will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Great Room.
Children should arrive to their classrooms no earlier than
6:35 pm. and no later than 6:45 pm.
Mrs. Wilson would like those children who will be wearing
costumes, to meet her in E305 (Music Room) at 6:15 pm.
Performers’ Attire Guidelines: Please keep in mind that it
will be very warm on the stage when deciding what to wear. Ladies, please wear
“Sunday best” in keeping with Providence Academy’s uniform guidelines
(knee-length or longer skirts—please, no mini-skirts or heels). If possible,
Easter/light pastel-colored clothing and light-colored shoes are requested.
Gentlemen, please wear dark pants with a light-colored,
collared shirt and tie (Easter/light pastel colors, if possible).
Lower School Choir Reminder
Choir rehearsals are held each Tuesday afternoon from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m.
Pre-Kindergarten Parent/Teacher Conferences
Pre-Kindergarten conferences will be held on
Thursday, April 17th, and Friday, April 18th. Parents are
reminded that there will be no class for Pre-Kindergarten students on either of
those days.

Faculty Treats Request - From Allison Adducci
Please help me in showing our wonderfully talented and dedicated staff
how much we appreciate all that they do. I would like help in providing a
treat at each faculty meeting. It could be a baked good, chips and dip or a
veggie tray—let your imagination run wild! Most meetings occur on Mondays
and Wednesdays. Just have the treat to the main office by 3:30 on the day

Athletics Update
Spring Sports Posters
Spring Sports posters have arrived! The full-color posters include
photographs of PA Lions in action, as well as the Spring Sports schedule. Stop
by the Administration Office, Student Services or the Upper School office to
pick up one for your family.
How to Receive Sports Communication
The best way to receive information at home about upcoming events and
driving direction is to utilize the Providence Academy website. Simply go to
http://www.providenceacademy.org and
click on the rSchoolToday Calendar link. Information can also be obtained by
calling the Sports Hotline at (763) 258-2580. The Hotline is updated daily and
contains all of the day’s information and happenings.
Daily Sports News, containing results from the previous night’s action, is also
available via email. This feature will be up and running soon. Please contact

College
Day Update
We currently have 95 (yes, 95 and counting!!) colleges planning to attend
our Second Annual College Day! Please note that the College Fair portion of the
program is open to all Upper School students and parents and will take place
from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in Gym A.
Mrs. Hogan still needs
additional parent volunteers to help with set up and registration, as well as
student tour guides. Please notify her of your willingness to help by calling
(763) 258-5508 or by sending an email to
sarah.hogan@providenceacademy.org.

web program, by following these instructions:
1. Go to:
