A splendid time was had by all who
attended “An Evening Under the Stars” on Saturday night. The
evening began with guests enjoying butlered hors d’oeuvres and
champagne while scouting out their own best silent auction picks,
including the ever-popular class art donations. A delicious dinner
was served amidst midnight blue velvet, twinkling lights, and
conversation among friends. Then the festivities kicked into high
gear as the live auction brought a few good-natured bidding wars.
The special Fund-A-Need auction item (for the acquisition of a press
box) even exceeded its $50,000 goal. Later, guests returned to the
Great Room “nightclub” to enjoy dessert, coffee and dancing to the
Brian Kinney Band until the clock struck midnight.
Heartfelt thanks to Kelly Bellini and
Jerry Seppala, and all of the contributors, supporters, and
volunteers who worked together to make the event a smashing success!

In another great weekend event, Upper
School students joined together Friday to put on a terrific spring
Coffee House concert! The show involved many students who had never
performed previously, original songs, and some creative arrangements
of popular songs that
required much time and practice. Well done, students.

Love & Logic News for 2008-09
The upcoming school year will provide
parents with a number of opportunities to join parenting discussion groups,

help children become emotionally, socially and morally healthy.”
Sessions geared toward parents of adolescents and teens will be again be
offered. Also, in response to several requests, two new groups will be added in
2008-09: evening discussions and a discussion group for parents of college
students.
Registration will take place in the fall. Questions about Love & Logic

Your Opinion Counts! Complete
the ISACS Survey by May 5th
Providence Academy is in the process
of gathering opinions from its constituency with the annual Independent Schools
Association of the Central States (ISACS) satisfaction survey. It is our goal
to let every voice be heard! The survey will be administered both at school
functions and by mail to make it easy for all to complete.
Providence undertakes the survey
as part of the ISACS accreditation process. The results of the survey are very
important for renewal of our accreditation, the Academy’s self analysis, and
other long-term planning.
Our Board of Directors, faculty,
administrative staff, parents, students and alumni are all asked to complete a
survey. To be more accurate in responses, we are asking parents to fill out one
survey per child attending Providence Academy. This will enable parents with
children in different grades to reflect varying opinions on survey topics.
The survey should take about 15
minutes to complete. Blue or black ink can be used to fill out the answer
form. All surveys should be mailed or returned to the Administrative Office by
May 5th. If, for some reason, you do not receive a survey in the
next two weeks, please call Mrs. Julie Kennedy at (763) 258-2506.
Please remember the due date:
May 5th!

Providence Academy College Day - A Success!
Many, many thanks to all who helped make our Second Annual College Day on
April 23rd a tremendous success. The college representatives were
truly impressed with our school, especially with our students, and we are so
pleased that institutions of higher education are seeing the tremendous quality
of a Providence education firsthand. It makes such a difference, especially
since many of these representatives visit hundreds of high schools around the
country (and the world) every year!
Special thanks to the following individuals:
Tour guides: Allison Barker, Jennifer Bevington, Derek
Brown, Sophie Carr, Megan Daley, Michael George, ClaireRin George, Chelsea
Gross, Nolan Hsu, Matt Kopp, Megan Mazza, Michael Offerman, Tony Pistilli, Eric
Robinson, Ava Tamosuinas, and Matt Westrum.
Student presenters: Julie Harrison, Lars Gilyard, Abby
Letak, Simeon Wrobel, Mary Cummins, and Mark Mulvahill.
Additional Student Helpers: Alex Eaton, Grace Carney, and
Renee Cullen
Parent Volunteers: Tamara Christoff, Beth Deeds Trombley,
Joan Eaton, Linda Finley, John Murphy, Mary Mithun, Cindi Machuzick, Sandy
Mazza, Paul and Joan Nordick, and Nancy Walls
Photographers: Derek Brown and Eric Robinson
Special thanks to Beth Harrison for her many hours of help
both in preparation for and on College Day, and also to Sally Nathe, Courtney
Daniel and Maureen Murphy in Student Services, and Emily Semsch, and Kelly
Wilder for their help and support.
The following are quotes from a few of our college
visitors:
"The Providence Academy College Day is a great opportunity
for students to learn about a variety of colleges, and for college
representatives to get to know Providence, which is a one-of-a-kind school.
Thank you for the opportunity to attend your program."
"Providence students, particularly your tour guides and
student presenters, were impressive, confident, and articulate young people."
"It is rare for a secondary institution to include time
with (let alone an address by) the Headmaster. Thank you."
"Thank you for your incredible hospitality...the food was
absolutely delicious and the students were fantastic."
"I am amazed that I did not know about Providence Academy
sooner (but am glad I know now)."
"The student presentation was excellent."
"My tour guide gave a wonderful tour of the school and I am
very impressed with your students."
"Of the College Fairs I travel to throughout the nation,
this is by far the most organized and is one of the very few that offers a first
class luncheon and a keynote from the school head.”
