Extended Day

Lower School Extended Day

Lower School students in grades Kindergarten - 5 may enter the school building at 7:45 a.m. and report immediately to the Library for some relaxing social time before the start of the school day.  Students may play chess or checkers, read a book, visit quietly with friends, or watch a child-friendly video.  At 8:15 a.m., students are dismissed to their classrooms. We do not presently offer before school care for Pre-K students. Before school care is supervised by two of our Kindergarten assistants.

Many Lower School students remain at Providence after the dismissal bell each day in order to participate in our popular “Kidventures” (Grades 1 - 5) and “Little Pals” (Pre-K and Kindergarten) Extended Day programs.  For Providence families seeking a fee-based, supervised after-school care program, Kidventures and Little Pals are excellent on-site options where Lower School students can spend time with friends in a positive and safe environment.  During program time, students are offered a healthy snack and expected to do all or most of their homework.  Games and either outdoor or gym-based fun are planned each day.  With homework done or nearly complete, family time at home can be less stressful and more enjoyable.  Both Kidventures and Little Pals are coordinated by experienced teachers who are assisted by adults with child care or teaching experience.  Upper School student aides are also on hand each day to help Lower School kids safely have fun. Flexible options are offered and parents may register their children for any number of days on a regular or drop-in basis. Click on the "Kidventures" and "Little Pals" links to access registration forms.

Our Extended Day coordinators also plan and supervise a fun and exciting all-day camp during the first week of Providence Academy’s spring break in March.

In addition, Providence Academy offers an all-day summer camp experience that is filled with fun activities. Each week revolves around a different theme and includes a field trip. Check our Summer Camp page for details.

Middle School Extended Day

Middle School students waiting for practice or activity, or waiting to be picked up to go home, have the option to  remain in the Great Room after school until their event begins or their ride home arrives. Students are allowed to study quietly, talk with friends, play games, and have a snack. Students participating in the experience are expected to comport themselves in a respectful manner, and clean up after themselves. The program is coordinated by an adult supervisor with youth ministry experience. Click here to access the registration form.
