Faith Life

Religious life at Providence is integral daily.  Religious education is required each year PreK through 12, providing Biblical foundations, solid catechesis, and ongoing evangelism.  Fidelity to the teaching authority of the Catholic Church assures that our students encounter, and are invited to embrace, the fullness of the Christian faith in their lives.  In Upper School years, a specially trained faculty prepare students to "cast out into the deep," challenging them in special ways to know and defend their faith beyond graduation.

We pray together at the day's beginning, and in our classrooms.  Each noon, we pause wherever we are to pray the Our Father, or, during Advent, Lent, and Easter, the Angelus or Regina Coeli.  St. Paul urges us to "pray always," and we hope to provide an environment where all of our activities can be offered back to the God who created us and loves us.

All students attend Mass once per week, together with their classmates in Lower, Middle, or Upper School.  As a longtime Providence student said before her graduation, "the school's expectation that we attend Mass gives me the freedom I need to focus on the most important things, and to prioritize."  In addition to Mass, regular schedules are provided for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, as well as for Eucharistic adoration.

A campus ministry program provides numerous opportunities for students both in and out of the school day.  Retreat opportunities are organized throughout the school, and a special off-site program of retreat days is offered for each grade 6 through 12.  In 2011-12, Providence welcomes another set of NETters to our community.

NET Ministries is a national group headquartered in St. Paul specializing in evangelizing and discipling youth.  NETters are known for their fidelity and energy and are a special gift in our community.
