Providence Academy Triple "A" Winner Bounces Her Way onto the Next Level

(March 24^th, 2008) –Providence Academy Senior basketball player Katie Finley was recently chosen from a pool of finalists representing 56 schools in the region as the female Region 4A Triple “A” Award winner for the 2007-08 school year.  A total of eight female and eight male athletes in Class A are honored as Regional winners.  This is the highest award granted by the Minnesota State High School League.

Triple “A” stands for excellence in arts, academics and athletics.  The program honors high school seniors who excel in all three areas. 

Katie is the daughter of Timothy and Linda Findley who hail from Plymouth.  She has participated in numerous Varsity level sports including basketball, track, soccer and cross-country running.  During her 9^th-11^th grade years she participated in both varsity soccer and cross-country during the fall season.

Aside from her excellence in athletics, Finley is an award-winning artist.  Her charcoal drawings and acrylic paintings have won her the Award of Excellence at the state competition, the Myrna Kane Award and the Peoples Choice Award at the Plymouth art show.

Finley’s artistic participation is not limited to the studio.  She is also involved in Orchestra at Providence Academy.  “I’ve played violin for a really long time, and I really enjoy it,” she said.

When asked about her nomination to the next level of the Triple “A” Award Finley said, “I think it’s really cool to have made it this far.  I hope that I can continue.  It would be so great to make it to the next level.”

An awards banquet honoring the Triple “A” Regional winners will be held March 29^th in downtown Minneapolis.  Award recipients will be introduced during the MSHSL Class AA Championship Basketball game half-time break.

Katie Finley, of Plymouth, will be honored with other regional winners March 29^th, 2008 as the female Section 4A Regional Triple “A” Award winner.  Her nomination progresses her onto the next level of competition.
