Providence Academy was honored once again by being named one of the best 50 Catholic secondary schools in America. Providence is the only school in Minnesota to make the Catholic High School Honor Roll’s top 50. Nearly 1,300 Catholic high schools were invited to apply to the Honor Roll by completing surveys that measure academic excellence, Catholic identity, and civic education. With this high level of competition, inclusion on the Honor Roll indicates outstanding success in each of the disciplines examined. The Honor Roll provides a powerful resource to parents and educators by acknowledging those schools that best maintain high academic standards, uphold their Catholic identities, and prepare students to actively engage the world. Providence is one of only twelve schools nationally to be honored by this recognition each of the past three years. “We are greatly honored by this award,” said Dr. Flanders. “We pursue our mission here because we believe it is the best way to help transform lives and prepare young people for life. Recognition by the Honor Roll each of its three years is a wonderful compliment for the faculty who make the mission a reality, and for the students and families who live it.” The Catholic High School Honor Roll is an independent project of the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion & Liberty, an international research and educational organization based in Grand Rapids, MI. Its primary goal is to encourage schools to educate students as effectively as possible, in a ways that integrate Catholic faith and prepare students for active engagement with the world. The state of Texas led with six schools selected, followed by California with five schools. Overall, 25 states are represented on the Honor Roll. For more information on the Honor Roll, or a complete list of schools that made the list, please go to the Catholic High School Honor Roll Web site at www.chshonor.org.
