Providence Academy Fine Arts Teacher Publishes Cast Painting Book

(September 25^th, 2009) –Providence Academy fine arts teacher Darren Rousar of Excelsior has recently published a book on cast painting titled Cast Painting Using the Sight-Size Approach.

Rousar’s first book was published in 2007 and was entitled Cast Drawing Using the Sight-Size Approach.  The book has been chosen as a main drawing art text book at several schools.  After working for over a year, Rousar recently finished the second book in his series which focuses on using the Sight-Size Approach in painting.  The first of its kind, his book provides the steps an artist takes in translating a cast or sculptural piece into an oil painting done on canvas.  Written to be used by students, the book covers all necessary topics including useful sections on materials and how to properly prepare a canvas.

The book, published by Velatura Press in late September 2009, is now available through online book sellers.
