Providence Academy In Plymouth Names 2009 Lions Football Captains

(September 15, 2009) – Providence Academy, a PreK-12 College preparatory school in Plymouth, recently announced the selection of its 2009 Lions’ Varsity Football captains. Head coach Nate Harrington named Senior Defensive Back Alex Eaton, Junior Lineman Blake Sandvold and Sophomore Linebacker Daniel Leidall as team co-captains.

The Lions’ season has been off to a great start. In its fifth year of football, Providence Academy continues to enjoy a co-op relationship with Heritage Christian Academy of Maple Grove. Already with a record of 2-0 in the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association (MCAA) the team has played two shutout victories, one over Montgomery-Lonsdale (13-0) and the other against New Life Academy (17-0). The leadership of the newly appointed Lions’ Football captains has proven to have a positive affect on the team.

Lions’ head coach, Nate Harrington, enjoyed his HS coaching start at The Blake School from 1998-2004. He followed his time there as an assistant for Providence football from 2005-2008 before earning his current Head coaching position. Drawing on his experience in coaching High School athletes Harrington discussed the versatility of his co-captains. “These players represent what we look for in our leaders. They provide team motivation, guidance of the younger players, in-game inspiration and they represent Providence Football well,” Harrington said. “All three do a wonderful job in these important areas and Providence Academy is fortunate to have some of the best in Minnesota High School football, both in athletic ability and leadership.”
