Providence Academy Cross Country Races to Kick-off the Homecoming Game

(September 14^th, 2009) – After a week-long celebration of homecoming events, the Providence Academy Cross Country team will take the lead and end on a spirited note.

On Friday, September 18^th before the Academy’s football game against St. Agnes, members of the Cross Country team will relay from St. Agnes to the Providence football field. Team captains Jayme Beukelman, Kelsey Wiebusch, Petey Simonse and Stefan Boemer will deliver the Academy’s school flag and the game ball just in time for kickoff. The runners also plan to get the crowd in the spirit with a rousing rendition of the Academy’s school song.

The 2009-10 season will exciting for the Providence Cross Country team. Coach Rachel Fogel anticipates the Homecoming events to be a fun highlight of the season. Fogel sees potential for the girl’s team to participate in the State Tournament and says the boys have set their eyes on placing higher at sectionals than ever before. Team members in 7^th-12^th grades have already exhibited promising results for the season. The Academy’s young running talent will surely capture the attention of rival teams around the metropolitan area.

Providence Academy’s Cross Country team will relay on Friday, September 18^th from St. Agnes School in Saint Paul to the Academy’s Plymouth campus varsity football field. The team will deliver the school flag and game ball just before homecoming kickoff.
