First Grade Students Celebrate Minnesota's  Sesquicentennial

As Minnesota gears up for it Sesquicentennial on May 11th, 2008 the first grade students of Providence Academy are learning about the history of our great state.

Providence Academy Hosts Second Annual College Fair

Providence Academy will host its second annual College Fair on Wednesday, April 23.  Representatives from 100 of the nation’s finest colleges, universities, and military academies will be on hand to meet with students, parents, and members of the Academy’s faculty and staff.

Scott Stankey, a Providence Academy sixth grade student, placed seventh overall in individual competition at the City of the Lakes Chapter Math Counts Tournament.

Semi-Annual Blood Drive a Success at Providence Academy

The Memorial Blood Center recently hosted their spring blood drive at Providence Academy.  Fifteen new donors joined many regulars in giving blood.  The next drive is scheduled for Monday, November 3rd from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Providence Academy Triple "A" Winner Bounces Her Way onto the Next Level

Providence Academy Senior basketball player Katie Finley was recently chosen from a pool of finalists representing 56 schools in the region as the female Region 4A Triple “A” Award winner for the 2007-08 school year.  A total of eight female and eight male athletes in Class A are honored as Regional winners.  This is the highest award granted by the Minnesota State High School League.

Providence Academy Students Named to All-State and Regional Honor Bands

Tony Pistilli recently performed on tenor saxophone at Orchestra Hall as a member of the MMEA All-State Symphonic Band.  His award is the first of its kind for a music student from Providence Academy.

During National Fire Prevention Month the Plymouth Fire Department sponsored its annual Fire Prevention Poster Contest, open to all 4th and 5th grade students in the Plymouth area. Grace Cummins won the award at Providence Academy.

Nearly 400,000 lunches have been served.  A time capsule has been buried.  Graduates have been accepted to Ivy League and other top colleges.  And new students are still arriving at Providence Academy, which celebrated five years of operation on September 5th.

A Christmas Carol Books and Memorabilia on Display at Providence
During the Christmas Season, Providence Academy’s head custodian, John “Scooby” Wagner presents his collection of rare memorabilia from the Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol to the Academy’s fourth and eight graders in addition to performing his typical maintenance duties.

Two Providence Academy seniors have been recognized as semifinalists in the 2006 National Scholarship competition.  Kathleen Ojeda is the daughter of Randy and Debbie Ojeda and Natalie Dehen is the daughter of Marty and Carrie Dehen.  Both are Plymouth residents.

Providence Academy seventh grader Daniel Mokhtari took first place in the bridge building competition during the Science Olympiad State Meet on Saturday, March 5th at the University of St. Thomas.

 

March 2005 Providence Academy Middle School Students Fold Pocket Flags For Troops
As part of a Lenten service project, Providence Academy Middle School students sent 300 pocket-sized flags to troops serving on the front lines through the Pocket Flag ProjectTM.

 

February 2005 Providence Academy Recognizes Its First National Merit Finalist
Providence Academy senior Christopher Byrne, son of Dennis and Bonita Byrne of Maple Grove, has been recognized as a finalist in the 2005 National Merit Scholarship Program.
