About the Academy

admissions
for the
2008-2009 School Year

  1. APPLICATION FORM
To initiate the process, an Application for Admission form must be completed and returned with a non-refundable application and testing fee of $100.00.

  2. INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS
At any time during the application process, parents are invited to an informational meeting to discuss the Academy, its goals and educational philosophies and to meet staff and other prospective Academy parents.

  3. CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE
Students applying for Grades 6-12 also will need to complete a Candidate Questionnaire.

  4. TEACHER REFERRAL AND TRANSCRIPTS
It is recommended that you return the Application Form as soon as possible, as the date on which your application is received is a factor in admission. This will allow your child to be considered for enrollment pending the later receipt of the Teacher Referral and Transcript.

  5. ADMISSION TESTING (SCREENING)
Interviews with all parents and students are scheduled after an application form is complete. An age-appropriate assessment is part of the application process for all grades.

  6. REVIEW BY THE ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE
Information gathered in the admissions process is reviewed first by the Admissions Committee, comprised of faculty and staff. For those students who are academically qualified, acceptance and enrollment is dependent upon available space. Our first round application due date is January 15, 2008.  Applications received after January 15, 2008 will be processed on an ongoing, timely basis.

CRITERIA USED IN EVALUATIONS

The Admissions Committee takes the following into consideration when evaluating students for admission:

  • aptitude
  • academic achievement and readiness
  • emotional and social development
  • motivation
  • interests, talents and extra-curricular activities and achievements
  • cooperation from the family in helping the school meet the needs of the student
  • ability of the school to meet the needs of the student
  • commitment of the student and the family to Christian education and formation
Providence Academy is a college-preparatory school. It has a challenging yet rewarding curriculum. Therefore, students who will find consistent success at the Academy are those who show or have already developed a readiness for academic and personal achievement and demonstrate an interest and commitment to learning.
